Inbound Marketing vs. Interruption Marketing – Which one is for your business?

WebitMD’s marketing strategy has shifted focus in 2014 from our traditional internet marketing methods known as Interruption Marketing to our new solution for businesses called Inbound Marketing.  Unlike Interruption marketing where you interrupt your customer’s flow of activity to get their attention, Inbound earns your customer’s attention organically, without interrupting anyone’s path.  It is a more natural method of gaining awareness and building an inbound channel of customers/clients to a business. We have found that this new way of targeting customers is responsible or 90% + clicks on the web, unlike Interruption marketing which is only responsible for less than 10% of all clicks on the web.

There are many differences between Interruption marketing to Inbound marketing, however here are our favorite progressions for adapting this new solution:

  • Paid / Rented Email lists have become Opt-In Email lists that have your customers wanting the information you are providing instead of the old method of “fishing” for your clients to hopefully “bite” or happened to be interested what you are saying.
  • Traditional Trade shows booths has now transitioned into Public Speaking events where you’re in front of your best customers sharing the info they are interested in.
  • Billboards & Outdoor Advertising has changed to Supporting/Sponsoring Events to build trust in your community.
  • Forums, comments, and UGC spam is now word of mouth & viral marketing that your customers are so happy with your products or services that they want to share it with their friends and family.
  • TV, Radio, and Print Ads turned into having your clients downloading eBooks, Whitepapers, tip sheets, or any information your client finds useful.  For example, say you are thinking about getting veneers, but you don’t really know what to expect from getting this particular dental surgery.  You start off by surfing the web and type into a search engine – What to expect from getting veneers. You then come across an article that says that exact title from a local dentist in your area.  You read the article and found it to be very useful information in which you feel compelled to book a free consultation with that dentist.  This is the true power of Inbound Marketing and why WebitMD has added it to our scope of services.

We are big fans of Inbound Marketing!

WebitMD is excited to offer Inbound Marketing to our clients and believe that this is the evolution in internet marketing.  Inbound marketing is powered by creativity, talent, and effort unlike Interruption marketing where it is powered by budget and repetition. In turn the costs with Interruption generally remain static with scale, but Inbound generates momentum making future efforts easier to reach your goals.
